A Holiday In The Sun said...

One thing I think it only fair to mention concerning the Washington Hotel: Planning consent is currently being sought to install a mobile phone mast array on the roof. The array consists of 3 masts, 6 attena and one dish. That's a selection of TEN assorted mobile phone transmitters and receivers.

The Washington Hotel is only 3 storeys high, so these masts will be literally just 10 feet above anyone staying on the top floor.

I understand that wouldn't be of concern to some people, but other people fear that emissions from such masts are dangerous to health - so it's only fair to give them an informed choice. And an informed choice is the one thing the Washington Hotel is NOT currently offering guests concering this issue.

The Hotel owners are happy to take payment for allowing a multitude of mobile phone emitters to nest directly over the heads of their guests...but they don't seem quite as eager to inform guests, or potential guests, about this.

Installation of the masts began a couple of weeks ago. However the developers did not clearly position the planning application to be easily publically viewable. This led to public protest when uninformed residents where surprised to see the masts going up. As a result of that protest, all work has been halted on the half-constructed mast array, and the developers have been forced to re-advertise the planning application - this time in clear view on the hotel's roadside menu board. Local residents now have 21 days to put forward objections to the masts.

Should permission be granted a second time to install the masts, work will restart on construction, following which anyone staying in the hotel will literally be sleeping in the base of a mobile phone mast.
